The Walk That Changes Everything

There’s a certain kind of walk that isn’t about steps, calories, or pace.

It’s not a workout.
It’s a reset.

And I didn’t realize how important it was until I started building my life—and my business—around it.

This Isn’t About Fitness

I walk almost every day.

Not in a structured, optimized, “close your rings” kind of way.
Just… walking.

Through my neighborhood.
On the trails.
Sometimes with a coffee in hand.

What started as something small has become one of the most important parts of my day. Because this kind of walking does something different.

It clears space.

Midlife, Slower (On Purpose)

There’s a shift that happens at this stage of life. You stop trying to do everything faster.
And start asking what actually matters. Walking has become part of that shift for me.

It’s where I think. Where I process decisions.

Where ideas for Marin Cashmere come together. Not at my desk. Not on my phone.

Outside. Moving. Quietly.

Where Ideas Actually Happen

Some of my best ideas don’t happen when I’m “working.”

They happen halfway through a walk.

A new product direction. A clearer way to position something. A decision I’ve been avoiding suddenly feeling obvious. There’s something about movement + space that unlocks clarity.

And once you notice it, you start to trust it.

A Different Kind of Productivity

We’re taught that productivity looks like:

Sitting.
Focusing.
Pushing through.

But I’ve found the opposite is often true. When I step away, I come back sharper.
More decisive. Less scattered.

Walking isn’t time lost. It’s where the work actually clicks.

The Marin Part

There’s also something about where I live.

The fog.
The eucalyptus.
The quiet trails.

It makes slowing down feel natural instead of forced.

And I’ve started to realize—this is part of the lifestyle I’m building, not just the business.

A Small Ritual That Changes Your Day

It doesn’t have to be long. Even 20 minutes can shift everything.

No podcast.
No phone.
Just walking.

Let your mind wander a little. You might be surprised what shows up.

Final Thought

Not everything that moves you forward looks like work.

Sometimes it looks like a quiet walk, on an ordinary day— that changes the way you think about everything.
